George Emery Luskey

I started a page on We Remember for George Emery Luskey, my 3rd Great Grandfather. It’s a memorial site that’s similar to Find A Grave, but yet people can interact differently and add pictures and stories to pages of their Ancestors. The site was created by Ancestry and is totally free to join and contribute. However, I’m still deciding what I think about this feature. It’s not connected to Ancestry in that you have to add the link to your Ancestors, on Ancestry, under web links. I’m not sure how many people use it as its new and I wonder if it will take off or not, like Find A Grave did. Anyway, here’s the link if you wish to go look. https://www.weremember.com/george-luskey/2q0i/memories

My Genealogy Journey

I was thinking about my Genealogy Journey today. I remember when I first started back in 1999 that I wasn’t very interested in finding out my family history. My aunt was sending us Calendars every year with pictures of our family and our ancestors on every month. Then she sent me a disc with the family history information on it from my dad’s side of the family. It peaked my curiosity. I started looking into my mother’s side of the family and found a lot of info fairly quickly. I found a cousin online and then all of the sudden, I had the family history going back a long way. Thinking back, I’ve come a long way from not knowing what I was doing and probably screwing up at every turn to being critical about what I add to my family tree and posting the various ancestry websites. Just thinking nostalgically right now I guess.
